5 min read • Updated March 2026

eBay's condition grades can be confusing. This guide explains what each grade actually means for camera equipment.

Manufacturer Refurbished

The gold standard. Inspected, repaired, and certified by the original manufacturer. Usually comes with a 6–12 month warranty. Price premium is justified.

Seller Refurbished

Inspected and tested by the seller, not the manufacturer. Quality varies enormously. Always check seller feedback and read the full description.

Used — Excellent

Minimal signs of use. May have light scratches or wear. Fully functional. Typically 30–50% off retail price.

Used — Very Good

Obvious signs of use but fully functional. May have scratches, wear on grip material, or minor cosmetic damage. 40–60% off retail.

Used — Good

Heavy use visible. All functions work. May have significant scratches, dents, or wear. 50–70% off retail. Best value if you don't mind cosmetics.
